everyone is all up in the air about this RFA hold out. IMO it's a big smoke screen. teams seem to be waiting for Marner to sign as he is likely to be the highest paid out of everyone. however TOR cannot sign him until Sept 12 when Horton and Clarkson will officially be on LTIR, even VAN with Boeser they do not have the cap to sign him until Sept 12 when Rousell will be placed on LTIR.
IMO there will be a mad rush of signings on Sept 12 to get all the RFA's locked up. except WPG maybe

I have a question for people who believe that Point and Rantanen will sign team friendly deals: why are these players/agents waiting for Marner to sign?

Signing a team friendly deal has nothing to do with Marner so why wait for him? The truth is these other guys want to be paid big bucks too.

absolutely! reports are Point and TBL aren't close, WPG and Laine arent close/havent even negotiated. all these guys want big bucks but teams won't pay them more than Marner, and TOR can't sign Marner til the 12th, hence the wait.
