we dont really need him we could trade him and get better value. I guess you would know about Tavares boosting his linemates production

Hyman will be on ltir for a while. The longer he is on it, the more cap relief Toronto gets. Once he is healthy it will be possible to get him in the lineup without trading anyone but the leafs may have to go with a 20 man roster which of course is not ideal

If Marner gets more than Matthews with same or less term I will no longer be a leafs fan. Nevertheless it will never happen

The longer someone is on LTIR their salary becomes pro-rated to the amount of time they are on LTIR. Therefore they would not have to pay as much of his contact against the cap

Nope. Not how LTIR works. It’s complicated, but you can’t bank LTIR room.
