Quick fix

Created by: GriffinCanucks
Team: 2019-20 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 26, 2019
Published: Sep. 26, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Move Loui to Montreal where he gets a fresh start and the Canucks get a guy back who's sitting in the minors for the Habs.

Baertschi is a tough move but theres a jam in the bottom six and the Oilers add a decent middle six winger which they desperately need.

Gaudette has shown he can play in the NHL (so far) this pre season so when Roussel comes back I believe we will see the end of Goldobin in Vancouver whether if he's dealt or picked up on waivers.

Just bury Schaller who cares ...

I don't think we should trade Baertschi. He's a good 2nd line caliber player that has proven chemistry with Horvat and can play up and down the lineup. Green was talking about running three scoring lines, which will probably be the plan once Gaudette is up with the team full time. Baertschi could be a big part of that scoring depth. In addition, he's also someone who changed his style of play to be more energetic and defensively aware to stay in the NHL, which is a good influence for the younger players. He's on a relatively cheap contract and he's also best friends with Horvat.

WIth the winger jam, I'd look to get rid of Goldobin, Pearson or possibly Leivo. Goldobin will probably be in Green's doghouse for as long as he's in Vancouver. I really want to work out a deal around Goldobin for Puljujarvi, maybe us adding in a mid round pick.

keep pearson and leivo, those guys are gems. goldobin or virtanen should go. both guys do not fit well with green's intensity and playing style

Leivo is really under rated in what he does, very effective 3rd liner and I think Pearson is pretty much a bit better Baertschi, I don't think they'll move Virtanen even though it may be for the best. Baertschi is a 2nd liner on a weak team and 3rd on a good one hence why Pearson takes his 3rd line spot imo.

I think Baertschi is a more creative player than Pearson with more high end skill. Pearson is a north-south shoot first player, which doesn't do much in generating sustained offense. I think we already have enough of the straight line guys, which is why I'd prefer to keep the playmaker in Beartschi. He provides a different element from the other guys.
