Why blame Melynk because players won't waive their NTCs for Senators.

The Rangers are giving up a high-ceiling defenseman like K'Andre Miller as well as what will likely become a high-1st in an amazing draft only for a very temporary cap dump? Geez...

He doesn't even need to get players back, maybe draft picks might be more effective for them. He wouldn't pay Karlsson and Stone either so idk. At least he shelled out money for the Chabot deal

Yep, I think it all depends on where they pick in the draft. Maybe if it's a top 10 pick, then they don't do it, but the Rangers get Tierney back in the deal. He'd fit in nicely on that 2nd line

Karlsson and Stone. Didn't Melynk offer 10 X 8? Players are UFAs, they can go wherever they want. No reason that the Sens or even the Sharks should have offered 11.5m for Karlsson. Sens got a nice return on a one year rental. Stone and Duchene were with the Sens most of last season....a poor season by the Sens. Again what would be the point of resigning the same losing team. Stone's contract with Vegas may not look so good in few years. I just don't buy the theory that UFAs are yours to resign.....They are FREE by definition.

I know Melynk is the whipping boy...some deserved by geez a few seasons ago, the Sens were in game seven of the Conference Finals. Melynk should be complimented for not wanting to overpay UFAs. Sure it hurts now, but the Sens with the all those picks from those deals have the opportunity to be a good team in a few years.
I But fans better not give reasons for the Sens to go cheap. Buy tickets to the games. It costs about 140m to run a francheise. LTIR excluded there isn't much difference to a teams overall budget if they spend 80m in cap salary or 67m. I'd by concerned as fan if the Sens didn't sign their own good RFAs that will be coming up. But until we see that, there isn't much the Sens could have done with their three departing UFAs.

We don't need to trade for a 2C, especially if we're giving up K'Andre Miller and our 2020 1st Round Pick to get him.
