You trade Markstrom and keep Demko.

    But those trades are ridiculous.

The most you get for Markstrom is a 2nd.

It all depends, there are certain scenarios that could be a possibility here, for one, they definitely keep Demko in any situation but when it comes to Markstrom it would depend on how they are doing at the deadline, if they are doing bad then they deal him if the offer is right, if they are still in a wildcard spot then they keep him and risk losing him in FA but imo they keep him, sign him short term and keep Demko as the backup for a couple more seasons.

As of right now, I'd say the right move is to re-sign Markstrom and keep them both. Markstrom has become a massive part of this team and is still underrated as one of the better goalies in the league since January of last season. Obviously Demko makes more sense long term as he fits in with our core age wise, but he hasn't proven anything yet.

If Demko proves he can be our guy, then we can move Markstrom and his contract, even if it's for a severe discount. If Demko doesn't work out, we still have a very good goalie. The Expansion draft should be a good deadline for the decision to be made.

It comes down to not wanting to mess up the goaltender position for me. I'd do everything I can to make the right choice in net and not worry about asset management at all in this case. Finding the goalie a goalie that you trust long term is possibly the single biggest franchise altering move that can be made.
