TDL Revamp

Created by: bbell080
Team: 2019-20 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 29, 2019
Published: Nov. 29, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Oilers look like they're going to make the playoffs, but they don't look like a team with the depth to succeed in the playoffs. They're going to have to make some moves, and these let them revamp on the fly without giving up prized prospects like Raphael Lavoie, Evan Bouchard or Phillip Broberg.

Ottawa Trade - The Oilers give up a 1st and a 2nd, and they get the red-hot Pageau (assuming he stays hot) who has a history of playoff success, Tyler Ennis who is a valuable swiss-army knife in your bottom six, and they get to dump Gagner's contract to give them some TDL flexibility. There will be debate on what Pageau is worth, but this trade solidifies the depth up the middle, and gives the Oilers three legit centremen without having to take Draisatl off McDavid's wing.

LA Trade - The Oilers give up a 3rd and give up on the Granlund project, and get the expiring contract of Toffoli in exchange. Toffoli has the ability to score with the right linemates, and he'd do well on McDavid or RNH's wing. Granlund gives the rebuilding Kings a body to put on the ice, with the potential to maybe find his legs and produce well as a bottom-six forward.

Columbus Trade - The least likely of these to succeed, but based on Anderson's production to date, Columbus may be thinking that last year was a fluke. The Oilers like to have a big body on McDavid's right side, and Anderson has more skill than the big boys they've had there this season. JP is going to get moved at some point, and the deal has to make hockey/business sense, but this is a move where both teams come out ahead if both players can find themselves in new locales.

It's interesting but I wouldn't and heres why.

Pageau is on fire like you said and I don't believe he is worth a first as an expiring contract and think he will be resigned. I'd be more interested in Tierny. Ennis fills a similar role to Granlund albeit slightly better. I can see Pageau fetching a first I just don't want it to be Edmontons. Especially because I fell he will be overpaid by about a million in free agency.

The Toffoli trade, Toffoli will fetch a second for sure and maybe even a first from a team like Boston or Dallas on conditional they make conference finals or something.

Anderson is much the same as Kassian so now you have to choose who to resign and you choose Anderson. So now Kassian walks.

It's not that I can't see it, I just don't think that it's a good idea to mortage those other assets (draft picks) since we aren't quite ready yet to go for a cup. I would look to package JP in some sort of deeal and look into selling Yamamoto rather then our first rounder for this year

Columbus says no. Anderson is much better the Puljujarvi. We have no interest in that trade what so ever.
