Pesce is definitely worth more than Kapanen, not much more but its more. However, Carolina fans are going to be saying, "It starts with Nylander and TO adds" which is just insane. What a joke.

Oh I'm not entertaining the idea of trading Nylander for Pesce but as a biased Toronto fan, it costs more than just Kapanen to acquire Pesce. Toronto needs to add in this scenario for sure

Yeah, I agree with that. It would be something like a conditional 2nd or something but not much else. Pesce is overrated. He's a good player but people on here think he's worth a top line player and then some and he's not worth that. He's just a solid defensive but unexceptional defenceman. He does a lot of things well and works great in the Carolina system but outside of that, I am not sure he has the tools to be anything special.

You must be very proud of yourself. I still don't really understand your point. Are you saying that Pesce is worth way more than Kapanen? I wouldn't be surprised because pretty much every clown on this site thinks he's worth multiple top line players and pics and prospects. Because a 30 point defenceman is something everyone has to have. He's a good player and I don't discount that, but being a good player doesn't get a team a massive return.

The appeal with Pesce is the combination of reliability, cost certainty with term and being right-handed. He would probably do really well next to Rielly (or atleast we think he would). I think it's fair to say that the return for Pesce is a top 6 forward which I think on most teams Kapanen would be. On Toronto Kapanen clearly slots in behind Marner and Nylander but he'd be in the mix in Carolina on the top 2 lines. Due to market inefficiencies however, Pesce is the premium player so Toronto needs to add.

Actually I consider myself pretty humble. I do see your point about not getting a massive return for a good player. And I don’t see Kapanen landing Pesce and certainly not Pesce and a 3rd.

Well if you had read any of what I have written, I did say Kapanen for Pesce is the base but TO would add something else. Not that much but something. Like a conditional 3rd or 2nd. Like if they make the playoffs its a 3rd, if they go to the conference final its a 2nd and if they win the cup, here's a first because who cares after that point.

Part of Pesce value is this lovely 4m contract for four plus years. If he's a top 4 Man, his value is much more than Kapanen (who I like) but is really a 2nd liner at best.
Pesce for Nylander? Nylander is really a 2nd liner and carries 7m which is IMO is too much. Canes keep Pesce and 3m to spend rather than even Nylander in a one for one deal.
