Cap-wise? You get more cap after the deadline - so you just put someone on IR or send them down to the AHL, make the trade, and bring them back up after the deadline. So it would work as a deadline deal

Nashville should get in a playoff position first then trade for rentals. Calgary, a team currently in a playoof spot will not be trading rentals for futures.

As for cap space, thats not remotely how it works but Nashville will have the room

This is whole thing - one trade every team. Not saying these will all happen, but the value is there for the trades. If they decide to deal him, this is a fair deal. Not saying they will - just having some fun.

The trade would still work cap-wise - https://swisshockeynews.ch/index.php/swisshockeyblogs-ch/65-nhl-explained/8112-how-does-the-nhl-trade-deadline-work

How cap works throughout the year is contracts become more prorated for each passing day as well as the league cap is calculated every day and fluctuates slightly throughout the year (usually trending upwards). So basically if a player has a 6M contract at the beginning of the year, by the trade deadline there are ~42 days left in the season. Take the contract (6M) divide it by the totaly # of days in the season (~180) and then multiply it the total number of remaining days in the season (~42 at TDL). It works out to avout a 1.7M cap hit

Maybe I was influenced by some other CGY posts I see here that seem to be done with him - could probably edit it to make it a conditional 1st if the Preds make win a playoff series or if he resigns. Or swap out allard for carrier, another d prospect that's a bit better. So 1st, 3rd, prospect. Can't do much better than that.
