Well, you've probably seen that the metrics (I don't follow metrics btw, only eye test) say he is bringing everyone he partners' with down? By my watching him he seems slower right now. The big thing I have not liked about him the last year and a half are the penalties and last year especially he had some bad turnovers in games. I hope he can play his way back this year and just be quietly consistent, strong, not sloppy. I don't think he's bad though.

Okay... this got me interested. I looked at some stats. In limited action, some surprisingly good defensive pairs are: Carlson-Gudas and Djoos-Jensen.

That leaves

Orlov-Siegenthaler as the best of what's left.

They probably only put together odd pairs like this on the fly when there's an injury or someone rushes off unexpectedly, but all three are doing pretty well, and might be worth another look.

Kempny is 23rd among defensemen in points/60 so far this year, so he's got some trade value. http://naturalstattrick.com/pairings.php?fromseason=20192020&thruseason=20192020&stype=2&sit=5v5&score=all&rate=n&team=WSH&loc=B&toi=0&gpfilt=none&fd=&td=&tgp=410

Could fetch a good forward having an off year.
