Strome Extended
You've got some original ideas here and I like what you've done. I would think Mantha could go to AZ as next year they, again, need NHL forwards to fill a roster and his 5.7 helps them get to the cap floor. I agree with your unsure value assessment in your response to Caniac555 (hi Caner!), I would not be surprised if they get a decent pick or prospect or even as low as 'future considerations'. It's a conundrum.

Would Washington do this for Schenn
I would give '23 2nd for playoff run rental. I would not do AA myself. He topped out in the AHL last year and early this year, don't think that league will help him anymore. He has pleasantly surprised me in limited games this year and I hope he is part of their top 6 future. He has good size, makes good decisions (keeps it simple) and when he shoots it is always on net. No thanks. ;)

On the Decline
I think they keep Milano unless he asks above 2.5 mil. I don't think the Caps re sign Gus or Jensen. They will want much more and Caps can't do it, not with 2 small D men. We need a few guys with size for next year and beyond. And I can link the article if you want to see it but Sheary already turned down an extension and Caps won't give him what you gave him. I think he is gone too but this will give some of the kids in Hershey a chance to finally make the big club. Just my opinion.

I'd rather have one more year of streaky 5.7 million, than 4 more years of essentially the same thing. Caps don't need forwards but a defensemen.

Caps have too many forwards already. Would like Edmondson for a possible playoff but his back issues flair up every few weeks so I don't think he will get a 1st round +.

Who move where at TDL
I initially thought this might be a good idea because it would behoove the Caps to add a defender with size (for a playoff run possibly) but he seems to injure his back every two months or so. He is a risk health wise and would be one next year too. Plus, Fehervary would have to sit and that would be a no no.

Caps Offseason Attempt 1
That Mantha/Garland trade is interesting. Garland is small though. Does he get pushed around a lot? They both have the same goal/assist totals this year too. So I wonder if this is a 'change of scenery' type of trade?

Agree. I think either of them would help NYR solidify the 4th line. They are both very hard working and both playoff veterans that would be a net positive.

Yeah I think gmbm will need to keep a few of these players to field a semi competitive team after tdl so I image all those you mentioned could go also.

Holy F this team sucks please sell
To your title, the Caps don't suck, this is a snap shot reaction. They seem to be a pretty middling team now however and are a tick worse than last year. It's a tight race now for them to make it and I hope they do because I like the yearly playoff hockey even though not much success the last 4 years...If they miss or look like they will miss by the deadline, I hope Bmac is smart enough to move at least a few of these good assets for draft capital. The kids can take the spots opened up for the last two months of the season then.

Well, somebody on D sucks because I've seen our goalies get hung out to dry a lot, especially lately.

Not sure it's a good idea to scratch Fehervary as he is a good future piece and that might sour him on wanting to re sign with Caps, even though he is an RFA.

Domi Gudas tdl
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>All_Knowing</b></div><div>Either way - these trades don't make sense for the Caps.
TVR is better than Gudas
Domi okay fine - but Mantha is better than Domi. He is a nice addition, yes, but this specific trade doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Something more even would be MoJo and a 3rd or 4th for Domi. MoJo is worth probably a ~3rd on his own, which CHI can flip. So basically you are getting either 2 3rds or 1 3rd and 1 4th</div></div>
TVR is most likely to be pushed to 7th d as I can't see any of the other in the top 6 taking a seat for the playoffs, I think they need more toughness for that time (if they make it in).
Why would you trade Mojo? He is scoring, excellent on the power play and carrying in the puck in the zone during the PP, is very good at possessing the puck and a fine defensive forward. Mantha doesn't fit here so move him and get someone the coach will play and move off salary for next year. I think these are good reasons.

these are moves to add punch and grit for possible playoffs. Coach has shown he'd rather not play (have Mantha) and Gudas will be more physical for playoffs (if they get in).

Caps TDL
If you would have showed me the ed/aa trade last year, I would have done it. Jon at NOVA caps said he thought he was tapped out in Hershey, meaning he hit a ceiling there and it wouldn't do much good keeping him in Hershey and I can see that he was right. AA has showed better than I thought and I wouldn't trade him now. I think he is a starter on the bottom pair with MF next year. The thing I like about him is that when he will take a shot on goal and it's always on goal, not missing wildly like some D men you will see when they try to shoot. I also like his size, first pass and he is usually in good position in the limited opportunities he has had.

I would be (pleasantly) surprised if Bmac could get a d man in an Eller trade. Doubt it happens this way. I think if the Caps are making the playoffs (still iffy) Gudas would be a good add for this. I would not want to pay more than a 3rd rounder though, as the Caps would only last 5 or 6 games in their first round series with Bos or Car anyways...;)
