1.
WSH
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (VGK)

Vegas has had scouts at Caps games. Sounds like they could use a winger. Would be a 3rd for Mantha but at 50% retained you give up a 2nd

  1. Mantha, Anthony ($2,850,000 retained)
2.
WSH
  1. Timmins, Conor
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (NYI)
  3. 2024 4th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
3rd and 4th for TVR who can play both the left and right side and has two more years on his contract after this season. Timmins as a throw in to help make the money work
3.
WSH
  1. Jost, Tyson
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (BUF)
  3. 2024 3rd round pick (BUF)

  3. 2024 2nd round pick (EDM)

Late 1st for Dowd, 2nd for Lindgren, 3rd for Edmundson 50% retained, and a 4th to clear Janmark's cap for the rest of the season to make the deal work
5.
WSH
  1. Kaliyev, Arthur
Additional Details:
Both Kaileyv and Alexeyev need fresh starts
LAK
  1. Alexeyev, Alexander
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (NYI)
6.
WSH
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (CAR)
CAR

Timmins is about to enter his prime, I wouldn't write him off. He had a great camp. Former first round pick. Has size. Offensive asset today. Just filling out his consistency and compete. You’d probably want him in your lineup over the rookie, honestly. But I think he stays in toronto, just feel like its a better environment for him to grow.

Anyways, leafs are looking to buy that TVR type defenceman for a 3rd or a fourth (not both) so they decline.

An Alexyev Kaliyev swap is actually interesting and something I never even thought about. Agree they both need fresh starts, although I feel like Alexyev still could make it work here in DC. I wouldn’t mind the move as you’ve proposed it.

Think Edmonton deal is wrong. Dowd won’t get a 1st ,but a 2nd. I don’t think the Caps move Lindgren either. The Kings one is off too. Caps would have to either give a different prospect or a higher pick, or even both. The other trades look pretty good though.

Kaliyev has already been replaced in the lineup by Arvidsson. The Kings don't need another bottom six forward. Kaliyev is available, but it won't be in return for a guy that would be a healthy scratch on the Kings.

EDM says no for reasons that have been discussed at length here on CF.

Also, what's with the suggestion that it would take a pick to "dump" Janmark? He's on an expiring deal and is making under the bury-able amount. If anything, the cost to "dump" is just the whatever pick or prospect you could flip him for.

Sabres pass imo
Jensen isn’t the “shut down” type RD we are looking for
It’s a bit pricy to bring in the wrong type guy
He’s also a bit old at 33, so he isn’t a guy we’d keep beyond his current deal either
I don’t think we’d do it

OK. But we need someone on right side till someone develops and this is relatively cheap for two year filling. About Greenway cost but I want Montour as ufa. 6x7mil. The return
Shutdown sounds Adam Larsson to me. If available

Here’s the thing though,
we actually don’t NEED a defenseman
For next year, we have:
Samuelsson-Dahlin
Power-Jokiharju (rfa)
R.Johnson-Clifton

So if we are gonna make a move to bring in a defenseman,
then it’s gotta be for the RIGHT guy, & not just a guy

DeMelo & Matt Roy are both scheduled to be UFAs & could be good targets imo

Larsson is DEFINITELY the right “type” guy we need,
although not ideal bc of his age (31) & needing a new contract after next year
Borgen (who we lost in the expansion draft) could also be a good target from Seattle - I’d be willing to send them Krebs for him if they’d like

But my point Main point is this:
We have TONS of talent - that’s not the issue
We just have too much of the same type, so we’ve gotta bring in a few guys to fill specific roles
Now that we seem to have goaltending figured out,
we really just need a few tweaks & we should be able to take a big step forward
