Personally, I don't think the Devils let Vats go for mid round picks. There would definitely be a bigger package coming back, like Kapanen, Ceci, and a pair of 2nds for Vats and Wood out of Toronto.

As for Severson, probably Stanley, a 2020 1st, and a 2021 2nd. Or Stanley, Vesalainen, and a 2021 2nd. I personally wouldn't get rid of Severson, hence why I might be asking a bit much, but Shero only views Nico, Hughes, Smith, and MAYBE Blackie as untouchables so who knows.

I like the Greene trade, but I would rather see us retain salary on a trade to a Stanley Cup contender so he can try and get his ring, even in our own division.

Severson is 25 and under contract for 3 more years on a solid caphit. And we're problably losing Vatanen and Greene for next year and only have one prospect in Ty Smith who's coming up.

We're already short on defense even if we don't trade Severson so if we really move him there has to be an instant replacement involved in the deal imo.
