An interesting concept, and I would definitely have to ponder it, however, I think I'd eventually decline. Petry isn't the defenceman I think TO should target, he's not very good defensively and wouldn't get any PP time in TO so I think the benefits he brings would be somewhat nullified. Domi while being skilled, I think Nylander has more skill and can more often impact the way offensively more so than Domi. While Domi brings a better engine and way more fire, I am also worried about his next contract. Will it be the same as Nylander's, or more?

Im not a fan of either team but Toronto shouldn't do it. Domi's an RFA and could get a raise similar or higher than Nylander's. Petry has 1 more season after this and hes exiting his prime. If Petry was 26 year old and had 3 years minimum on his deal, then its a deal that could've been considered

Petry isn't even that good though. He's a career minus 115 and won't get the offensive opportunities in TO that he gets in Montreal. And yeah that is my thoughts too, if Domi wants 8+ million because he thinks he's a 70+ point player, I'd rather have Nylander under 7.

He actually is very good. By far the most consistent Dman on the team the last two years. And he doesn't get top pp time so he would fit well on their second unit. Habs decline. The only thing that could potentially make this fair would be if Domi's new contract is horrendous
