Only problem here is there isn't a lot of cap coming off the books for the next off-season where the Caps will need to re-sign Ovechkin, Vrana, and Samsonov.

I agree to much money tied up into the future... OVI's deal is going to def. be a raise.

No way I would keep gudas at that AAV. I would let him walk and play a younger guy. the sami signing is throwing money away - we do not need him. We have 2 in the AHL that I would rather play than over pay that guy.

I would try and keep Gudas at a bit lower AAV myself. I think he fits perfectly as a RHD, we have none in the system. Vatanen is going to get 7 plus I'm afraid.

I think keeping Gudas is a good option. I agree he fits in well, especially on the third pairing with Siegenthaler. I think the bigger question arises when Fehervary and Alexeyev are ready for full time NHL duties, and who we have to move out. I'm thinking Siegs can at least play on the right side, so maybe Jensen is out and one of Fehervary/Alexeyev gets a spot on the third pairing? Orlov has been having a really good season when you look at his underlying statistics, so I don't think he's going anywhere. I think it comes down to Kempny or Jensen at that point.
