Saw a Van thread from earlier that was:

Anaheim: Silfverberg
Van: Woo, Podkolzin, Sutter, Loui, 2nd.

What are your thoughts on that? Frees up space by getting rid of Loui/Sutter, and gets you an upgrade on the wing.

As a Ducks fan, I'd prefer something like a top 15-20 protected 1st, but I kind of thought it might fit both teams needs.

Definitely not giving up Podkolzin... we only have 1 more year of Loui after this year. not worth it at all. plus we lose Woo who will be in the Nhl in 2 years...

It's fine value wise for both teams, but I don't think I would do it because Sutter only has one year left after this one and could probably be dumped individually for relatively cheap. There is a small chance that Eriksson could retire at the end of this year as he will have gotten most of the money he's owed, but if he doesn't I'd just send him down next season. He would probably retire then instead of riding buses in the AHL. We definitely do need to do some work to fix our cap situation, but that's a lot of value to give up.

I'm not the biggest fan of Podkolzin, but the Canucks will need some players who can step into the NHL on an ELC in 2 years. Podkolzin will most likely be one of them. The Canucks are also very thing on defenseman moving forward, especially right handed ones, so giving up Woo hurts more than it should.

Would you accept the Ducks trade I proposed?

Would take a bit more to dump Sutter. Ducks don't really need him at that price.

Would retaining 1,750,000 of Sutter's cap hit be enough?

Don’t think there’d be much of a point for the Ducks without a better asset. If all you’re getting is a 3rd, and you’re also losing a roster spot that you could be using to develop the kids, I’m not sure it’s worth it.
