If Patrick was still out injured, getting carter for 3rd line center would be a good option.

Lyon is a solid AHL goalie and Vorobyev a nice prospect, who could be a NHL 4th liner, although iffy at best. Hagg, in my opinion is a real solid 3rd pairing guy. He hits, plays solid defense and is pretty solid with the puck, (20 pts in 80 games last year as a 3rd pairing guy is more than respectable), even in limited time this year, hes on a .25 pts a game clip, which is very good considering the role he plays. Hes big, young, clears the crease and takes the body. Carter for Hagg straight up is a pretty solid trade for LA, IMO.

The truth is, that deal does not work for the simple cap mathematics, that you have only 19 skaters, and you're in poor shape for the next year. Something more like carter and ________ for JVR is probably more likely salary wise.

I know it was a little of an overpay for Carter, but I don't think Lyon, Vorobyev, or Haag are going to be signed in the summer (Haag may be depending on movement at TDL or over the summer). As to the 19 players, my understanding that once the TDL passes, the cap punishments go out the window. Therefore you can call up a 7th defenseman and another forward if you wish. This is strictly a TDL deal and on paper they would be short handed.

As much as I want the Flyers to make a move I think the only moves this year and next will be the hopefully healthy return of Patrick and Lindblom along with the full time call up of Frost.
