My Random Giroux Mocks
Everyone who says he doesn't go to Pittsburgh, why not? If it's cap, I think Kapanen has to come back. If it's because they are our rival, that's just dumb. Giroux is a one year player. They can't sign him, Malkin, Letang, and Rust again next year. Unless he plays out of his mind, he's not back there. If Giroux wants to go there (remember the GM is Hextall, I don't see any report that Hextall and G didn't get along), he earned the right to choose. Besides, Fletcher should worry about the best return. I don't care who he goes to as long as it is a strong return.

TDL - supposing Patrick does return
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>If Patrick was still out injured, getting carter for 3rd line center would be a good option.
Lyon is a solid AHL goalie and Vorobyev a nice prospect, who could be a NHL 4th liner, although iffy at best. Hagg, in my opinion is a real solid 3rd pairing guy. He hits, plays solid defense and is pretty solid with the puck, (20 pts in 80 games last year as a 3rd pairing guy is more than respectable), even in limited time this year, hes on a .25 pts a game clip, which is very good considering the role he plays. Hes big, young, clears the crease and takes the body. Carter for Hagg straight up is a pretty solid trade for LA, IMO.
The truth is, that deal does not work for the simple cap mathematics, that you have only 19 skaters, and you're in poor shape for the next year. Something more like carter and ________ for JVR is probably more likely salary wise.</div></div>
I know it was a little of an overpay for Carter, but I don't think Lyon, Vorobyev, or Haag are going to be signed in the summer (Haag may be depending on movement at TDL or over the summer). As to the 19 players, my understanding that once the TDL passes, the cap punishments go out the window. Therefore you can call up a 7th defenseman and another forward if you wish. This is strictly a TDL deal and on paper they would be short handed.

If Patrick does come back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wingss</b></div><div>What would a Patrick trade even look like?</div></div>
I didn't make it clear. I think this team is constructed pretty well. There is a nice balance of lines and if Ghost and Myers play half as good as they did last night, this team can make a run. We have to pray no one goes down for an extended amount of time.
If/when Patrick does come back, I think this team only gets monumentally better. With Laughton on the 4th line, it is a pretty tough team to beat.

Jake packs his bags this summer
I think these are all fair assessments. I do think he needs to move. I just figured Ottawa with so many #1s and #2s can move up fairly fast. That's how the Penguins did it years ago with Sid and all his teams high draft picks. They will need to move someone this summer especially with Frost close to being ready (if not ready now) and guys like Myers, Patrick, and Lindblom to sign.

What would you be willing to offer for Voracek
We probably have to find someone to take on either his salary or JVR (probably with us retaining some money back on either guy). The way Lindblom is playing, he's going to be looking at a $3M or $4M raise because he is playing lights out.

I wish we had a better third line center. And also, thank you for pulling Chris Stewart. I don't know what he brings to the table. He was horrible during the Pens game. And the thing I thought he brings, he didn't do, so clearly he doesn't bring anything.

Although it has been said, Columbus isn't moving Jones for anything other than a top 10 player who is young. Also, Dallas can't make that trade unless he waves his NMC.

untouchables
I think the way Lindblom has been playing with Coots and TK, he may be moving into the "untouchable" category. Plus, I think he may be getting close to a TK deal or a bridge deal if he keeps it up. Also, JVR and Voracek for now are in the equal value side, but depending on how this season goes, they may move into the "get them the heck out of here" column.

I agree, something else needs to get throw in, maybe a middle round pick. Voracek is a good scorer. I think he is a little too comfortable right now to be honest. Also, when looking at the league, it seems a lot of teams are hard up against the cap. I was very surprised that the Flyers are not the worst team up against the cap, far from it actually.

Lines by christmas I hope
Wouldn't that be nice to see Farabee up with the big club. He's already killing it at the AHL. However, that 2nd line is far too slow. I think you can mix it up and have three good scoring lines, similar to what you have.

You are right, I'm sorry. The ownership group that Lemieux is a minority share holder of didn't look to relocate the team for poor ticket sales.

Upon closer inspection, New Jersey (they have a goalie on an ELC as a backup) or Columbus (also a backup on a two way contract) that could potentially take on the deal because if it were me, I'd rather the goalie play at AHL then sit at the NHL. Plus they have significant cap room (over $10M).

Same thing here. Your cap number is too high. You have to get rid of someone or send someone down to the minors (supposing all their salary goes there).

I said it could be any team that needs a veteran goalie. I just picked AZ because they were the first on the screen. I haven't paid attention to what every one's situation is with injuries and such. He has a small cap number and someone that needs a steady presence in the locker room.
Personally, I do not understand the Braun and Nisky trades which put the Flyers back in a mini cap hell when you include all the retained money, the Hayes deal, the Konecny deal (which I like), and the Provy deal (which I also like). They came into this season with over $20M in space and they pissed it all away.

I was seeing if you think one of the "kids" goes down to the AHL. I agree about Raffl. However, I wonder if he has some value in the league just because his ability to play all 3 forward positions.
