Jake packs his bags this summer

Created by: thepmofgreece

Initial Creation Date: Nov. 13, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think Voracek is done considering Frost is knocking on the door and the development of other younger players. I think you have to look at moving on from some of the older guys. The only other option is JVR (which I think will be gone with the Seattle draft).

Trading (next summer) a 31 year old with four years on his contract and not taking any money back. might be impossible. Sure Vorachek would help Ottawa but in a few years they might not want his 8.25m cap hit as the Sens might be a true contender in few years.
Trading value and playing (current) value just aren't in synch for Vorachek due to his age and cap hit.

Sens wouldn't be interested in taking him. Paying the guy from 30-34 when he is going to decline makes no sense for a rebuilding team who is at least a couple of years away from competing

That such of a small return for Voracek but I agree... Ottawa isn't the right team target.
Maybe StL mwith 2M retain... and you don't need Gufs... not with defensive D-Coach Therrien.
Ask for Bozak so you won't need to retain salary and Phily would get a good 3C + Kostin or picks

I think these are all fair assessments. I do think he needs to move. I just figured Ottawa with so many #1s and #2s can move up fairly fast. That's how the Penguins did it years ago with Sid and all his teams high draft picks. They will need to move someone this summer especially with Frost close to being ready (if not ready now) and guys like Myers, Patrick, and Lindblom to sign.
