Kap can't play his off wing and isn't as good as the two Elite RW ahead of him. That is why he doesn't play higher up. Playing your off wing isn't easy. Anderson would probably do really well in TO but his value is at an all time low (literally 1 goal), trading a younger better player just because you think you need a tough guy is just ridiculous.

Trading a guy at his high for a guy at his lowest value is how you win trades. That is why this trade would have been 88 for Anderson last year and why some previous commenters are laughing at the offer. The only ridiculous thing here is that you think Anderson's only tool is toughness. There are very few players in the league that have his skillset and it's not Matt Martin and Cal Clutterbuck, it's Tom Wilson and Chris Krieder.. the guy has all of Kap's skillset plus toughness, not quite as agile, not quite as good of hands..

Kapanen isn't at his highest value. His best hockey is still to come. Anderson is not at all in the same realm of Wilson or Krieder. This conversation is just silly now.

2018-2019 (G-A-P)

Kreider 28-24-52
Wilson 22-18-40
Anderson 27-20-47

Clearly you don't actually watch hockey so maybe some stats will help you out a bit.. it does all make sense now why you think Kap is better, you have no idea who Anderson even is... so why argue?

I would have included their hits and PIMs to further my point but you don't count those and I don't have time for that. Ya Kap's value will increase if he can use his elite skillset to learn how to play the off wing in the top 6 like highly skilled Zach Hyman does lmao

Columbus is not going to make the playoffs. They have been on a crazy heater for a while and when it levels off, they'll fall back to earth and drop out. Whatever your reasoning is, I don't care. This trade is bad for the Leafs.

The Leafs have been on a few crazy heaters this season too... and aren't in a playoff spot. So...? And even if they WERE IN they'd be the team who allowed the most goals in the regular season. And hitting and shot blocking (which you don't put a premium on) are HUGE difference makers in a 7 game series. This is why the Leafs haven't won a playoff round since '04. Loads of talent but not enough guys willing to pay a price. Josh Anderson could be their Gary Roberts, and they're going to need a Gary Roberts or they're just gonna waste another year.

They were terrible prior to firing their coach. And have been scoring at a 4 goal a game pace since Keefe took over. They are much improved and continue to get better. They are a team that underachieved to start the year and other than a 6 game slide where they went 1-2-3, they've been one of the best teams in the league under Keefe. But ignoring most of what's gone on is much easier when arguing
