Description

We have to hope Benson can provide a Yamamoto-type boost to the 1st line OR bank on James Neal playing well down the stretch 5 on 5 with McDavid and Kassian. Neal looks like he's slowing down McDavid/Kassian a bit so I put him on the third line with Chiasson who has similar issues.

Haas has been ok but he's a borderline 4C / 13F. He skates well but I feel this is the piece we sorely need to upgrade. I've got no issues with keeping Khaira/Gagner/Jones as the extras for the rest of the year. Gagner looks like the veteran depth "skill" guy that we can use once in a while when we play softer teams.

Khaira draws in for Nygard when we play heavier teams / depending on Nygard's timetable, Khaira might be our 4LW even though he's practically useless lately.

**I'd push for the Oilers to trade Neal / Chiasson in the offseason though to create more cap and while they have value. Neal's goal scoring is welcome but his foot speed is an issue.

I'd love to see Benson on the 1st line, I think that line could be very successful together. Benson is a very cerebral player who is pretty good on the boards and responsible defensively.

That 2nd line is blowing up the league - every coach is putting out their best defenders against McDavid and the Draisaitl line is taking advantage. It's no coincidence that the Oilers are one of the hottest teams in the league since that line was put together: this line is 13 GF - 2 GA at 5v5 in the past 11 games, Oilers record is 8-1-2 with a +20 goal differential.

Also, I think I'd have Caleb Jones in instead of Russell: 2 goals and +4 in the past 2 games when paired with Benning. They seem to have instant chemistry.
