Why would the Kings make this deal? The are out of it? Clifford will be moved for a piece of their future. There will be other teams looking to add Clifford to their roster. He will probably bring the Kings a third.

Boyd's an RFA, but a 4th line dime-a-dozen, so not worth anything. I would think that LA would be more interested in a draft pick, a 4th or maybe a 3rd since the Caps will be one of the last picks each round.

Because Clifford has more value to the Kings than anything a team would offer. He should not be traded. He is only 28. If Blake trades him it just adds to his stupidity as a GM. However if he does, he is worth a 3rd round pick at least.

He's basically the heart and soul of the team and he has adapted to the way the game has changed better than most older 4th liners. With the Kings trying to trade guys like Toffoli, Carter, Lewis, Martinez, ect the Kings will need Cliffy because they will need a veteran presence. Kopitar, Brown, and Doughty would be the only veterans. Everybody else will be new to the NHL or have 4 years max.
