Maybe, i think it depends on who we land in a top 6 winger trade. Because if that deal includes chucky then obvs we deal him there. However, if a deal is made where a roster player other than chucky is moved (Simon, Bjugstad) then this could be done i think. Although i think this should only be done after the top 6 winger trade because it allows for more cap flexibility for the pens. If this and a top 6 winger trades happen that involves lets say Bjugstad, then limes could be:

Top 6 winger - Crosby - Simon
Kahun Malkin Rust
Vessey - McCann - Hornqvist
ZAR - Blueger - Tanev

Main reason I like it for buffalo is because I don't see us resigning vesey, but if galchenyuk finds any sort of chemistry like he's had earlier in his career, then I could see us keeping him

All depends on your system. It has to cater to him because he wont cater to your system if he doesnt play like that. He isnt doing well on the penguins because our system is not what he plays like. Penguins play a full dump and chase, relentless forecheck, pressure game which he cant adapt to. If the sabers play a system that allows him to utilize what he has then this could work out well for them indeed

Seen and done these trades before. I really think Vesey would fit better in PIT's system and Gal better in BUF's system. That being said, something else would have to come back considering the amount of retention. I have added Fitzgerald and Portillo given that BUF doesn't have a 3rd for a couple of years. If BUF is really high on either of them, PIT could send back a 4th or a C-prospect to make up the difference or maybe swap Portillo for Pavlchev (couple of reserve guys).

retention kind of has to happen because of the 0 cap space the sabres currently have, unless for instance bogosian were to be moved beforehand. Most I'd add to it would be a 4th
