I’d rather see if Foote is ready.

There is still more than 2 weeks to the deadline, it would be stupid not to test Cal Foote first and see where he's at in term of development. If he's able to perform we are good and we don't waste unnecessary assets, if he's still not ready we still have time to make a move.

Remember, making a move for the sake of it is just bad GMing. Last year we were the ****ing dream team of the NHL, it was predictable that JBB would stay path at the deadline.

Also, remember 2 years ago we did the McDonagh and JT Miller deal? Both ended up being meh factors in the playoffs. But there it was justified because they both still had term and we didn't waste assets for rentals.
If you get a rental you have to be sure he'll have a good, positive impact on the team or you just gift away draft picks and prospects.

Zwui21 I could not agree more. Last year we found a gem in Cernak, Foote has made substantial progress. If we trade for a RHD or is Foote is good it will cause a good dilemma down the road.

Best not to screw up his development and also risk an injury. We are in a win now mode so a veteran defensive defensemen would be best. Cal doesn’t play well in preseason games either and Gaunce has been better this season.

I guess we disagree, he is within one year of age of Sergachev and Cernak. He was drafted as high as them. Giving him a few games up before the draft is the way to go.

How would you screw up his development with a call-up of a couple of games? I think that, on the contrary, you'd motivate him to progress even more and work harder.
He didn't play well in the preseason? You mean he had a bad week 5 months ago? lol. Since then he played 47 games in the AHL and he's been good.
Risk an injury? What? What a backward thinking is that? The guy plays hockey, not ballet.

Why on earth would you bring a rookie defensemen less than 2 months before playoffs.. a forward can be done fairly easily but last time I checked a D mistake could lead directly to a goal .. zero sense.. bring in a veteran .. period

And amazing you think the team was a "dream" last year .. TRUE Tampa fans saw the issues the last 2 months.. and staying put at TDL added to the complacency .. same players.. cooper extension.. lack of toughness .. playing for stats (Kucherov drive for highest point total for a Russian in game 82 was insanity) .. regular season intensity etc...
