Description
So we all kinda know what’s gonna happen with the players... Dillion, melker maybe another veteran are gonna be traded but I have a question for behind the bench.

What’s gonna happen? Dougie boy has job security and that is proven to the owners letter to the season tickets holders. But for the head coach what do you think is gonna happen? With the sharks not dramatically improving since Boughner took over(he also had injuries to his top 2 players which doesn’t help). The sharks could go with him but to be honest I don’t see it, dougie boy might want to bring in a new mind. Candidates?

A new coach? That clearly wasn't the issue.

Team is in financial trouble because they have so much money locked up in such a few amount of players. Like the leafs with their forwards (AM, Marner, Tavares), Sharks have 26.5M locked up on just 3 defense for the next 6 years. That's 33% right now, and only goes down to probably 32% next year. Not to mention Couture, Kane, and Meier (I still think the Meier contract is fine though) making a combined total of 21M for another 4 years. Jones has basically fallen off a cliff so a new goalie should be the main target atm (that or getting into the first round of the draft). The team needs to retool, might take 1 year or 2. Sell some assets not named Meier or Hertl and build around them as the core. Take advantage of the expansion, offer to leave Burns unprotected in exchange for a first or something (Seattle should surely bite at this, and relieves a lot of cap). Build around Merkley and Roy on the right side instead.

Since you mentioned Roy, what is his situation? He had some injury history and it looked like he was never gonna hit NHL some time ago, this changed? Otherwise I agree, until expansion draft, they can try to win, but not for every cost, they should keep their 1sts because the rebuild is inevitable.

I dont watch much game so I dont know what to say about Boughner, what I noticed most is how Dell improved (is Nabokov now practising with goalies?). I know that Gallant or Babcock are available but dont know whether they can make this team better.

You think i meant San Jose gives Seattle a first to take Burns? Oh god no, its the other way around, Seattle would be foolish to not trade a 1st for a Norris winner that just had a ppg season as a defense. As for Roy he is looks to be pretty solid defensive. Decent 3rd pair guy

No i meant in general, that they shouldnt trade for players and give up first if somehow next season is SJS competitive again. Burns could get back some nice pieces if traded imo. I think his contract is just fair, maybe bit too long, but money is good, this is the price you pay for almost ppg in last few years Norris trophy winner.
Ok thanks for the info.

My opinion as an avid follower is that Roy is done. Some say he could still be a third pairing guy but I just don’t see it. His legs are ruined
