      I think the Oilers would do that trade if they had a 3rd round pick in 2020

      Please do not put big money/term into a largely unproven goaltender (only 60 career NHL games so far) - give him the bridge deal before giving him the big contract - not even Binnington with his insane play last year got a contract like this. He is currently playing his most games in a season this year (37 right now) -- you have no idea what this guy truly looks like as a starter (55-65 games per year). If he falters (he looks good now, but still), you don't want to be on the hook for that. Goalies typically get a 2-3 year bridge deal before the big one. 2-3 years x $3-3.75m should do it.

      I am not Tom Fitzgerald so I will not be making that decision. fair though bridge deal makes more sense depending on how this year ends for him.
