Willis Approved Deadline Deals

Description
I picked 4 deals that WIllis deemed to be close to fair value: #14, 30, 31 and 36.

RW Ondrej Kase: I don't think this is the right value - the other idea was to send Benning and a 2nd which I think is closer to fair, but Willis clearly thinks the trade as listed below works better for some reason. Both deals are in the range of LeBrun's suggestion: https://theathletic.com/1578696/2020/02/03/lebrun-six-specific-trade-deadline-moves-that-make-a-lot-of-sense/

C Evan Rodrigues: this trade is predicated on BUF preferring an NHL player in return rather than a pick, which probably makes sense for them.

LW Jimmy Vesey: the original trade was for Khaira, but I've already sent him to BUF for Rodrigues, so I've substituted Chiasson. Their salaries are closer and Chiasson is a better player, so it should still be in the ballpark.

LW Mikael Granlund: this trade probably needs some modification due to the cap implications, if I removed the condition and made the pick a solid 2021 2nd, would NSH retained $1.75M? Is that fair?

Now clearly the Oilers won't need to do ALL of these deals, and if Benson works out, that impacts the deadline as well. What do you think? Which trades would you do?

That's a lot of cap hit.

I suggest shpiping out Russell for a lesser vet D, like Brandon Davidson?

Could work, I'm just citing Willis' article for deals that he seems to think are fair for discussion.

The only one that I am hesitant about is the Chiasson one. I am not a big fan of Vesey and Chiasson’s experience in the playoffs will really help if we get there this year.

No chance Anaheim takes the Puljujarvi offer, but you're right that the Benning and a second deal might have appeal to the Ducks.

Actually I think Benning + JP would benefit Anaheim the most, as a 2nd round pick might not fit with their timeline. I just don't know if Holland would do it - I think he values Puljujarvi well above the 50th overall selection.
