Eric Staal Deadline

Created by: goodjobbjs
Team: 2019-20 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 6, 2020
Published: Feb. 6, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Might be an overpayment but I think Staal adds a nice veteran presence. Jackets have proven they can play without Anderson and Murray. Staal would fill the second line position for the next two years while younger guys like Foudy and Texier continue to develop. He adds scoring and plays both ends.

Only possible if Minnesota folds and Staal accepts NMC.

I think its a nice deal, but idk if CBJ really would part with more picks, I feel like the team will either make small trades or stay the course.

they're only giving up a third and getting 2 picks in return it benefits them

See in this situation they get a 2nd and 4th back for their 3rd. I think it's reasonable. Adding picks and adding talent.

Any trade that happens for a center has to include Wennberg, as they would be a more consistent upgrade on him as a 2nd line center. Wennberg certainly wouldn’t be a healthy scratch or a cap dump with this trade.
