Good title bad trade

Kelly and Joe can figure out any imbalances with draft picks....I just wanted to include the two main principles.

I had heard that there was a bit of a rift with Joe and Nikita back in the day. Not sure if that was true and if it was, not sure what it was about. But I would have to assume contract. If so, perhaps Joe doesn't want to deal with NZ again this summer.

Well i assume it was like any free agent and GM, player wants more money and Gm doesn't want to give more. I don't think there was any real issues. He's playing for a longer contract right now but i don't see us trading him for a lower level center. Eakins and compher play the same game, we don't really need another one.

I think this is a big downgrade in value for Colorado. Even if there is some bad blood between Zadorov and management you could get a better return than Eakin.

That is not true at all, they play completely different games and styles. We lose the majority of our physical game by moving zads, and timmins will be over shadowed by makar. I think timmins is more of a trade piece at this time, but he also won't go for a depth center.

With Z you take the good with the bad, like that turnover behind the net for an easy wraparound goal. I can't blame Sakic for wanting players with more consistency. The writing is on the wall, as Graves, Timmins, and Byram will be pushing Z out of Denver.

Yeah Zads has ups and downs, so does every player. Yeah he turned it over in front of the net, but i literally just watched girard, landy and graves do the same thing the past 3 games. Zads also was the reason for the turn over that led to kadri's goal against Columbus to tie it.
If you look at the D we have coming up we will have 0 physicality on our team with zads and cole gone. That is not what you want in playoffs at all.
I think it's going to be timmins to be the one who is traded. Makar and girard already brings the offense, graves has played excellent this season. Byram is going to be a solid 2 way player. Johnson and Zads will be used for shutdown pieces.

There are plenty of players who can bring the pain, but won't command $4M+ a year. Avs should do what CGY did and grab a Zak Rinaldo scrubbo

I noticed neither of you mentioned Cal Foote. What's his development been like and he is expendable given your D depth?

Yeah lets do what the team did that we just wiped the floor with last year in playoffs. All players like that do is take dumb penalties and don't produce. Zads is fine, and 4 mil for him is a solid contract.

CGY got Lucic and Rinaldo specifically to counteract Zadorov. Z smashed up Tkachuk; thats why he was a ghost in the series. I think CGY makes the WC final.

CGY did the smart thing by adding toughness at F, not on D. If there's fighting or big PIMs being handed out, the team won't miss a F as much as a D.
