Damn part is that he and Suter are still pretty darn good players at about 70 cents on the dollar.

He'll be 37 with 4 years left. Seattle is probably their best chance at dumping him.
I mean, looking at the roster if you were going to dump one, he would be it wouldn't it?
I realize Suter is there too, but it's easier to move defense if you have to.

He's more likely to waive for a cup chance, I would never ask him to waive because he contributes enough that the cap hit is worth it and I'd be too afraid of recapture potential. The Wild aren't going to be in any sort of cap trouble anytime soon.

Just musing of course but I still gotta wonder what his #'s would be if he went to PIT. Not complaining about what happened when he didn't of course. The guy just never had a bona-fide #1 C feeding him and he has done pretty damn good without one.

yeah but lets not find out and take on that contract tears of joy

I sure he doesn't mind getting paid till he's 40 big money, but it's also kind of sad in a way because its almost assured he'll never be traded to a contender with that contract.
So his chances at a cup are most likely done forever unless MIN makes a huge turn around.

I don't see any cup contender taking that contract.
But there are multiple studies that show players prefer to both sign and be traded to tax havens. Not paying 5-11% of your contract to the tax man is a huge incentive to ok a trade.
