We can kiss Leddy goodbye and if a prospect or two has to go to move Ladd, that's fine. They'll find a way

If barzal is on a 7 year I'd have to think he gets more than $8M, Pulock contract seems fair, I think they could get Toews on a 3-4 year deal at a lower AAV though. Also why Talbot? The reason we didn't sign Lehner was because Sorokin is coming next year

I could see the Parise deal happening in the offseason, shedding Ladd's salary and still upgrading or maybe even having a lower cap hit than now

I'd prefer not to. We're actually going to have a cap issue this summer and adding one of the most overpaid, overextended players in the league doesn't really go with that. Any upgrades we get this summer are probably coming in the form of Dobson, Wahlstrom and hopefully Bellows and Wilde.

ya you might be right. figured they have cap space and would be happy to take on Ladd's contract if it came with two high picks and a NHL ready defenseman. i put in Palmieri as a placeholder but he's only got one year left so this would be them basically buying some picks and a prospect. the numbers may need some work though.

ya all fair points. I'm not sure Barzal can get more but you might be right. toews may go lower years but i cant see him taking lower AAV. he's a PP1 QB and a good defenseman who can skate extremely well and is only 24. honestly, i havent added it in there yet but i could see them unloading pulock's rights for some picks or cap relief. if they are as high on dobson as they seem to be (a year with the team plus an offseason) i could see them solving this problem of cap space by moving pulock for a massive haul. will they? no clue. but dobson is a younger version of pulock (not a perfect comparison but you know what i mean - tall, good skater, RHD). if that were the case i think maybe they'd hold onto Leddy for the veteran role that Trotz likes, but who knows?

Either way, the main reason i did this was to see how the cap crunch would play out. and it's not pretty.

Also I picked Talbot at random - basically a cheap backup guy in his 30's who Lou could sign for a one year deal at minimal cost. Issue with Lehner was that he wasnt going to take another $1.5M deal. Talbot (or someone like him) might. But I swapped in Skarek for now as a placeholder for a minor league or cheaper vet guy just so the numbers work.
