Perhaps Next Season

Created by: NJ11
Team: 2020-21 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 24, 2020
Published: Feb. 25, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
L1- Balanced Two-way Line that can score
L2-Heavy-Cycle Line
L3- Balanced scoring Line
L4- Special Teams line (Just PK'ers/ Competent 4th Line contributors)

On the Blue Line with so much cap tied up and no real options available the hope is Burns can use the off-Season to rest and EK65 comes back healthy and ready to go. Demelo comes back and paired with Vlasic can be decent in a limited role. Really hoping Ferraro takes a small step and plays minutes with Karlsson, that would be a dynamic pairing.

Don't Know what to do with Jones yet, trading for AG really depends on the price, rn I have a 2nd and a decent Defence prospect, however, could be more could be less.

This team will live and die by the goaltending and defense, coaching is also a big area. Boudreau is my choice because he really built Minnesota into an elite defensive team around his system and he gets results wherever he goes. I think the sharks' playoff experience can offset his shortcomings in the playoffs.

Overall ALOT needs to go right but the talent is there and in a lackluster pacific it's worth a shot before truely blowing things up.

Yeah true but a cost-effective option imo that has upside. What do you think will happen with the goaltending situation?

I hope we sign one of the top goalie's in free agency. Crawford and Halák are both solid and I think we could get them for 3 million or less. I would think we could buyout Jones and re-sign Dell.

Yeah true. I hope they get a new coach and really hammer out the defensive system because a good goalie with a bad blueline will still have **** numbers

Sharks need to try to move on from one of their 3 big defenceman as too much capspace tied up in these players which is hurting the rebuild which needs to happen.

We would love to, but its not easy to move someone with that contract without getting ripped off

I think you need to move the player with the crazy contract and attach another player, prospect or draft choice as a sweetner to get to agree to the deal. The other team also really needs to be a team that has lots of capspace or close to below bottom level of capspace and needs to take on the salary. It can be done and a team like the Sharks just need to be creative and committed to a rebuild.

Yeah but we aren’t. The sharks won’t be rebuilding for at least a few more years

You can't just move those contracts it'll be really difficult and more close to impossible. Better to make a run next year and at least try to be a fringe playoff team as a way to shave years of those contracts if we can't move them. If they suck in spite of that they'll be able to draft well regardless.
