I modified it for my purposes.

RULES***********************************
Forwards: pts/g * 82g * $100K
Defense: pts/g * 82g * $150K
Goalies: (gp * $100K) - ($1m if sub .910, or $2m if sub .900) + ($1m if above .910, or $2m if above .920)

ONLY this year's stats are used.

ONLY this team's stats are used, unless specifically mentioned otherwise in special cases

Minimum allowable contract size is $700K

Keep signing players until 20-man roster is made.
If there is still cap room, keep signing until cap space is fully spent or 23-man roster is made, whichever happens first.

Attempt to sign higher-value players first. Second priority is amount of games played.

Players traded off won't be signed.

Bouwmeester was not signed, as his career might be over
Scandella was not signed, as only 5 games were played (sample too small)
JDLR was replaced with Tarasenko, despite him only playing 10g

Happy to see my initial findings are confirmed. Cup contender teams are well above the cap. Even if I replaced Tarasenko with JDLR, it's about 8M above the cap.

What's fun in this one is that all the lines are more or less the same, except for some shifts in RW.

Interesting concept. I've always said that every 10 points is usually worth 1M for forwards.

I think in real life, it's not a straight line because of supply and demand. So players making less than 30pts make less than 3M because there are many of those, while players making more than 60pts make more than 6M because there are few of those.

I'd love to get my hands on a raw dataset so I can run that analysis, I'm sure the trend confirms my suspicions.
