Spooner+ for Tanev

Team: 2016-17 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 24, 2016
Published: Jul. 31, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Boston signs Vesey, now having a surplus of forwards, especially at LW. Looks like VAN could use a LW/C in Spooner, a RD replacement in McQuaid is sent. Decent futures in Benning RD and Bjork LW. Boston wants a RD to play with Chara instead of K. Miller.

Not likely, I know. Everyone tell me why this is a terrible trade......Go!

Its a decent trade and I understand where you're coming from but compared to recent trades like Hall for Larsson Vancouver would probably want someone like Pastrnak for Tanev

That's a fair assessment. Pastrnak is a RW(RW depth is shallow) and one of BOS only gamebreaking talents. Bruins chance for a Tarasenko type player. I want him toowink

That's not too bad of a deal, getting Bennings relative in their is a nice touch smile but it probably have to be Lauzon and Heinen instead of Benning and Bjork with another prospect going to B's from Canucks like Zhukenov

I thought Benning would seal the deallaugh. Heinen(a steal as 4th round picck) left school early this year with his sights on RW with Marchand and Bergeron. It would be hard to see him go. Lauzon was a good choice by you also, he is the B's best two way defense prospect. That's a tough deal to swallow, but I guess it would have to be. Khokhlachev would be available too, Benning would be familiar with him, as he was around to draft him.

Matt Benning wasn't invited to the B's development camp, expecting him to go UFA after college. Good chance he'd sign for uncle Jim though. Same worry with Bjork leaving as a UFA after college. He's a good prospect, but BOS has many good LW's in the system: Marchand, Beleskey, Vesey?, Vatrano, Debrusk, Gabrielle, Bjork, Cehlarik. It looks as though Bjork doesn't see a future as a Bruin.

You're out of your mind if you think tanev is worth pastrnak. Even the trade above with spoons is a massive overpayment for tanev. We have guys in our system that will be just as good if not better than him in a couple seasons

Was Larsson worth Hall?

No, but only because Hall is one of the best young forwards in the game. That doesn't mean Larsson is a bad defenceman, and he definitely as more value than tanev. Tanev's a 27 year old undrafted dman who's career high is 20 points. Sorry, we already have a similar player to that, who is already a big enough problem, and we just signed him to a 4 year deal

Tanev is one of the top 5 defensive dmen in the whole NHL. He is criminally underrated. No he doesn't score much but is elite at what he does and is a huge upgrade on a player like Larsson who is tanev light. Tanev with Krug would be an elite d-pairing. Tanev is what people think Larsson could become. That's Larsson's ceiling.
