I can see this, but Sakic doesn't trade his 1st round pick for no one. Maybe a 3rd but never a 1st.

The question is what's their need... bellemare is a 4th line centre, that's why the got him.. why upgrade a 4th line centre who cost 3x as much for a first

That is a great point. But overall, if you have Landeskog, McKinnon, Kadri, Rantanen and Makar, I think you need a little talent playing on a lower line. They are all great players, but they are all playing on either the 1st or 2nd line. Offensive wise, Johansson would be a great acquirement as Bellamare and trading a 1st, but Johansson has seen a little more experience as he was a 1st and 2nd line player in 2008-09 to 2016-17, but Bellmare was playing a low line since 2004. Yes, maybe he's seen a little 2nd line action, but Johansson has had more.

Johansson is a better scoring more talented player sure.. but when they were all healthy the bellemare, calvert, nieto line was one of the better lines on the team and top 3 4th lines in the league... I'd rather keep it the way it is frankly

Good point. But Calvert, Bellemare and Nieto wouldn't be as good as Nieto, Calvert and Johansson.

Maybe, maybe not, calvert and bellemare have great chemistry. Johansson and calvert might have awful chemistry, how often do you see a 4+mill dollar 4th liner and give up a first for one?

Easy no for Colorado. They are likely to let Namestikov walk, Kaut and Bowers are ready for call ups into the bottom 6. For next season for the bottom 6 the Avs already have Compher, Jost (RFA), Nichushkin (RFA), PEB, Calvert, Kaut, and Bowers. There is no way they are using a 1st on bottom 6 guy, when the general consensus is they will be looking for a top 6 guy.
