Trades with CBJ

Created by: matt59
Team: 2016-17 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 1, 2016
Published: Aug. 1, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade buys Chicago a speedy left winger who they could try and pair with Toews and Panik/ Hossa. Calvert can score some goals, provide excellent hustle, perform PK duties extremely well and use his speed to a significant advantage. CBJ get a cap cushion by taking on three players on expiring contracts and a pick down the road.
Also if CBJ can sign Sam Gagner for only 650k, vermette would likely take a pay cut to be with a contending team for a cheap cap hit.

How does this help CBJ? These players are not fits for the CBJ. We like Calvert and don't want to trade him for crap

Agree. Not sure I buy in to Calvert on 1st line LW and Vermette (while good on draws) being 4th line C. Don't know much about them, but put schmalz or motte in 4C, play Panarin & Vermeer as 1&2 LW and move calvert down to 3

Nobody wants Tootoo or Rosy so basically that trade is Desi and a 3rd for Calvert. Not going to happen.

Why would Vermette play 2nd LW? He is a center and not a top 6 scorer. Vermette would play 3C and Kruger would continue his 4th line shutdown role. Motte and Schmaltz would play wing.

Disagree. At Columbus (and probably Phoenix too, I really didn't follow him there) Vermette played mostly Center, but some occasional wing. I'm not familiar with Kruger, so not sure if he would be ok on a wing or move Anisimov to LW. I was just pointing out that as a depth player, Vermette could probably be well served for LW duty to cover a little less ice/territory (as he is advancing in age), yet still be there to take a draw or two when needed in key situation, and playing on a line with both Anisimov & Kane, Vermette will get his point totals up considerably.
