Leafs in 2020-2021 Veteran Presence

Description
So idea Dubas Trades for Ottawa's lowest first (Sorry Kerfoot and Johnsson) uses it to trade tampa for foot and a winger who was good in 2018 season but has struggles in the 2019 season but still full of potential. As for Clifford sorry but I did not want to give LA our 2nd pick next year sorry so we let him go. But thanks to him Kappy will be his sucessor.

Aquires Puljujärvi for Bracco and Seymon bot have something to prove in the NHL.

Aquires Weeger for 2 defenseman who can fill in the panthers lines for a cheaper price.

Let me know what u think cause things could be far from over.

Dermott can play on the right but is he good there not really. Liligren is not ready for the big time yet. These trades help fix the dcore for next year cause lets face it a dcore being (Rielly-Dermott, Muzzin-Holl, Sandin-Liligren would be a disaster). Cause lets face it with a dcore like that freddie would be left for the wolves and have his lowest stats ever.

????? What' special about Weegar to justify his contract and two give two Dmen just to acquire him. Again the silly notion that other teams RHD are stars and so much better than the Leafs players. Panthers spent 30m on their 7 Dmen, and the Leafs 20m....and where has got the Panthers. Why is Cal Foote ready for top 6 minutes but Liljegren isn't?

Weegar has become a great top 4 defenseman with them especially on his off side with ekblad. Dermott is good but putting him on his off side and having liligren will make Toronto's right side sketchy. Foote has made bigger strides than liligren in a shorter span of time so trading for him is good. Plus with cap space if he does not work they will sign bogosisn to mentor sanding like he did with dahlin

Both Foote and Liljegeren were drafted in the same year. If Foote really NHL ready you can be sure Tampa who have much bigger cap issues than the Leafs will keep him, instead a 1st rounder which may never help and 4th liner Malgin.

tampa has a surplus of defenseman they can sign for cheap (Rutta, Cernak, Shattenkirk, if they decide to keep bogosian throw him in there) so foote is probably staying with syracuse unless they decide to trade him. While foote is an all around defenseman liligren is more offensively gifted being okay in the defensive zone but not perfect. malgin is just a throw in as tampa can sign him for cheap and he can be a filler or flipped to another team for low picks. Tampa already traded 2 of their firsts and is probably regretting it. Getting one back for that price is a small price to pay but they would do it cause if this season is not coming back tampa would pissed.

Plus the league is planning to possibly allow a possibly non cap affecting buyout for each team so tampas cap issues will be less so than the leafs as they can buyout one of their older players.

It defies all logic that Tampa who has serious cap issues, probably the worse in the league would ever trade Foote who on a ELC if he NHL ready.

to get a 1st tampa would be okay with it they already traded a top prospect for coleman and a even threw in a 1st which was a massive overpayment and coleman has not been what they thought he was for them. This trade allows them to get a 1st and use it to either trade it for other things or draft another defenseman. Top teams mainly use prospects as trade chips and sometimes bring them up but mostly trade them for value.
