TML 2016-17 - Facilitating needs: TOR <> ANA, TOR <> WPG (TOR LINEUP)

Created by: TML_GM
Team: 2016-17 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 3, 2016
Published: Aug. 3, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
ANA solves their logjam on D and need for top-end scoring. Gives them the cap room they need to sign their RFAs - Linholm and Rakell. (Note: There is the potential for the Leafs to take back an additional short-term bad contract if required. )

Toronto Acquires the LHD needed to complete a trade with Winnipeg for RFA Trouba,
A swap of prospects also occurs. ANA gets some needed speed and finish, TOR gets some skilled size in a power forward to grow with the young team. (Yes, old school thinking but I like the idea of Ritche riding shot gun for Matthews/Marner/Nylander for the next 6 years.)

WPG gets a top end young LHD in Fowler along with additional future assets and a reduced cost Michalek to fill out their bottom six wings. They also unload Pavelec and his remaining contract on TOR as their backup.

TOR's trading of JVR, makes them a very appealing location for Vesey who sees potential top line and 1st PP time as part of their line-up.

Trouba signs an identical contract to Reilly, making them the team's top pairing for the next 6 years at a very reasonable rate. Trouba takes that deal in Toronto, not in Winnipeg due to where he slots in the lineup, like Vesey he sees big minutes and PP time as a benefit to his next contract.

Matthews starts on the 3rd line, but we know where he will be by season's end. Bozak likely moved at the deadline for futures.

Influx of more youth helps with the expansion draft. Allows Toronto to protect 8 + 1 if they want to protect Carrick over Leivo/Rychel.

ahhh the three team trade. it could fix so many problems for a lot of teams but the GM's in the league are too stupid to wrap their heads around it and all the complications.

The way youve done the LTIR and burying of contracts isnt what would actually happen, they would be much tighter to the cap, so really they couldnt take another contract from ANA. Jets would probably have to retain on pavy if ive done the math correctly.

For the Jets Michalek doesnt make much sense they have such a glut of young forwards competing for only a few NHL jobs. maybe one of the young Bish defense prospects/player?

Great Job. Thorough. The way youve done the LTIR and burying of contracts isnt what would actually happen, they would be much tighter to the cap, so really they couldnt take another contract from ANA. Jets would probably have to retain on pavy if ive done the math correctly.

Jets would never do that trade. Where is the value for them? They give up their 2nd best dmen for a dmen that would be their 4th that seems like going backwards. Jets don't get better with that deal they get much worst and they don't really care about moving pav he only has one year left on his contact. Plus no way ducks take on that much money they are a hard budget team. This only works for one team and that's the leafs.

Look seriously ducks need to be around 68 mil Cap for their internal budget. Not even close. Plus you are super light on the Lindholm contact.

You're to low on Trouba's contract, In reality it will be 8 years $48 million no way does Trouba commit long term to Toronto he despises that team coming from Detroit and all. And that package wont get you Trouba.

The ANA deal is interesting, while the WPG is not. WPG would have zero interest.
