yes i would even probably push it to the limit (10.5)just to see if they would match. at least the wont get to sign him cheap and use the rst of their space to fill out their roster plus the need to sign both gosalies who are looking for big raises each and anderson. im not sure they would match the 10.5. i think they might prefer the picks rebuild around the goalies and seth and zack

Ya they can't afford to lose PLD, feel like they will match close to anything. Within reason of course.

probably would but its still worth it for the habs to offer. they CLb would probably buy out nash or move wenneberg or murray at all cost to match which is fine . maybe we could entice them to trade anderson and murray to us on the cheap in a package. I would definitely be exploring this if i was MB. if we could get murray to stay healthy and and anderson on the right side might fill our roster out nicely

I posted a similar idea and asked a bunch of Columbus fans what they'd prefer to do, trade with MTL or OS compensation. Most of them wanted the four 1st round picks and would sign PLD for anything under the top compensation bracket and I believe that is accurate. I would too.

If the Habs really want PLD, they need to OS him for minimum 10.6M+ and have the contract structured so that its mainly all bonus money with very little actual salary and paid most of it up front right away so that the contract is extremely expensive in the first few years. Its a silly over payment but given the significance of what a #1 center whose from QC would mean to the city, I think they can afford this over payment.
