Is that all Chiarot is worth?

I don't think getting those playersl will solve the Habs' problems. Habs haven't made the playoffs in the last 3 seasons so it's not an attractive location of free agents, assuming they all want to play for contenders.

Interesting. While I'm not sure those players make MTL a contender either, but I still think that's a place that players want to play. MTL is a great city and the players are worshipped there. It's not for everyone to be in that kind of spotlight, but I would be surprised if players wouldn't want to play there if the opportunity was presented.
Yes they've struggled recently, but I believe the allure of an original six team still exists.

Krug has stated he doesn’t want to play for a Canadien team. The Avs aren’t trading for a bottom 6 forward period.

If you can get Krug great and you might have to pay him that much to get him.

Use the money you save from Hall and pay Mete what he deserves, keep Chiarot and fill in your three roster spots ( roster must be 23)

This is more of an idea and is very unrealistic. I really wouldn't sign Hall unless it was at a great price like under 9. I do think though that Mete will only get 1.5 mil because he hasn't shown his offensive potential. Chiarot is a great defenseman for us but eventually I think he might need to go to make space for Norlinder, Harris, etc.
