Buff is in a tough spot. Not a lot of assets that are expendable that can bring in solid top 6 assets. And not a lot of assets that are expendable to bring in high ceiling picks or prospects. This is that no-man's land 8th seed-ish area between being a cup contender and in a rebuild that no one wants to be in.

I honestly don't know if there's any ground you can gain without blowing up somewhere else. Curious to see what Botts does.

Not blaming him. To get value you usually have to give value. Most other GMs aren't Botterill who is just going to give assets away for nothing.

Honka is a cheap option with a good deal of upside. They need as much cheap talent as they can get with all the expensive lead weights they're carrying around. Strome's price is rumored to not be prohibitive. Change the 2nd to a first, and throw in a cheap depth forward (e.g. Asplund, Thompson, or maybe Mittelstadt).

Hopefully gets fired. Not sure if I'm joking or not when I say that...beginning of the year I was on the "can't keep firing people" train but wow did he have another god awful season as a GM.
