When injuries happen, what tends to happen? Call ups maybe? Kassian trade was a cap dump essentially. Svech could shine. His career has been riddled by injuries. Just wait.
Except Kassian isn't a cap dump! You are obviously clueless about the player, maybe you should do a modicum of research before making stupid trades.
Since January 1st, 2019 (about 110 games) Kassian is tied for 29th in the league in goals scored at 5v5 with 25. He's tied with Barkov, Nylander, Eichel and Skinner, among others.
Just ahead, at 26 goals scored, are MacKinnon, Couturier, Meier and B Tkachuk.
Slightly behind Kassian are players like Point, Stone, Wheeler and Lee (all at 24);
- Stamkos, Domi, Ehlers, Miller and Hoffman (23);
- Malkin, Oshie, Marchessault, M Tkachuk, Lindholm and Kopitar (22);
- Scheifele, Gaudreau, Larkin, Debrincat, Nugent-Hopkins, Seguin and Bergeron (21);
- Kuznetsov, Barzal, Schenn, Pettersson, Kreider, Monahan and Eberle (20);
- Toews, Duchene, Forsberg, Buchnevich, Toffoli, Rakell, Niederreiter, Keller and Pageau (19)
- Crosby has 16; Marner has 15; O'Reilly, Mantha, Kapanen and Rantanen have 14; Horvat has 13; Kessel has 10, etc, etc.
Most of these players are paid more than Kassian and most have played more minutes in the timeframe given, yet I don't see those guys being treated as cap dumps.
If Kassian continues with his current production his contract will be one of the best deals in the league.
