Description
Doug Wilson better be busy this summer. Even with good health, and bounce back campaigns from EK65, Meier, and Labanc, this team is at best wild card worthy/fringe playoffs.

So it’s clear what we need.

1. Goaltending. It can be a 1A or 1B goalie. Just needs to have quality.

2. Top 6 offense. There are some free agents. There are some trades available. This team has draft capita.

Those are the two main problems that need to fixed/addressed.

Two other things that I think need to be done.

1. Bring back bob and... Nabby. Bobs system is better defensively which is what this team needs. Nabby has helped dell and jones be better with only a few months of work. Imagine with a whole offseason program.

2. Bring in a defensively sound right hand shot d-man. Can play with Vlasic as a shutdown pair or with The other two left d-men.

1. Goaltending. Agreed. The goalie UFA market is relatively strong this season. Only way DW pursues someone like Holtby or Lehner is if they find a way to unload Jones and there's only like a 10% chance of that happening. Fortunately there was some signs of stability in our net as Jones got more rest and I'm sure Nabby helped. Somebody like Halak, Khudobin, Greiss at 2.5-3M AAV feels more likely as a 1A/1B. I'm still hopeful SJ can perhaps find a means to acquire Georgiev out of NY although that ship will sail if NY chooses to buy out Lundqvist as it sounds is possible. Labanc would maybe need to be offered here in a trade to entice NY to ship out Georgiev.

2. Yeah I would argue we should look in to acquiring two mid-top six forwards either via trade or free agency. Especially if they choose to ship out Labanc which is possible in the right deal as I mentioned above. Wouldn't surprise me to see SJ send TB back their first rounder for a guy like Palat or Killorn. I would hope SJ only trades one of their first three picks in this draft. Somebody like Toffoli or Dadonov is tempting off the UFA market to bolster the RW position along with a forward acquisition via trade.

^ Only way we afford this (as I'm personally thinking there will be no CBO's this summer) is to offload one of Vlasic or Burns. I still think Burns is capable of 15g, 50a if healthy, he's relatively durable after all. He should have a couple dynamic years left in him at the least I believe. This leads us to Vlasic. I love the guy and still believe he's a true top four sound defensive Dman however that contract is bad. As much as I love him in teal, shipping him to someone like MTL with salary retained might be our answer to really improving in net and the forward depth. A guy like Edmundson (LD) could be had off the market for half the cost, obviously with less skill however.

3. I agree that we should bring back Bob and his crew. They really did help us to stabilize our defense and GA.
