OTT
  1. Davidson, Brandon
  2. Klefbom, Oscar
Additional Details:
Edmonton has a surplus of NHL Dmen. Gryba is likely resigned since they only have two RDs and Ference will likely go on the IR. With Ostresle and Nurse playing over 20 minutes a game last season, both have the potential to be able to play top 4 minutes. A top 4 right handed defenseman is a bigger need for the team, as Fayne isn't good enough and is a UFA in two years. In addition, Edmonton receives a young player with plenty of potential in Lazar, played junior in the very arena Edmonton plays in.
EDM
  1. Lazar, Curtis
Additional Details:
Rights to Ceci, Cody

Ottawa as a budget team needs players with cost certainty. Ceci needs to be resigned and if he signs a bridge contract, he might be in for a large payday. Klefbom's contract is perfect since the actual salary is low, but increases over time. Acquiring a top 4 LD allows for Phaneuf to move to his more comfortable right side, and Davidson acts as insurance pushing Boro into the role of a 7th defenceman.

I like it being a Sens fan. Klefbom would play with Phaneuf probably but I like it. I just don't see EDM trading Klefbom now...

I just like that Swedish top pairing and Canadian second pairing. lol

I could see EDM being reluctant in trading Klefbom, but it fills a need and you have to give to get.

I wouldn't make this move. I think Ceci, as a right handed puck moving D man who gets all his points with almost no PP time and can kill penalties, brings much more to the table than Klefbom. Also Davidson is a completely unneeded piece. Even if Chabot, Harpur, and Englund all fail to be ready this year Claesson is fully capable of pushing Borowiecki to 7th or sharing that 6th D man spot.

He is right. Ottawa has an abundance of players and prospects that can push for a spot in the top 6 already although I do like the ceci for klefbom swap although it's unlikely because Ceci is a local boys

Ceci may be better offensively, but Klefbom blows him out of the water defensively, and it's not even close. This has a lot to do with Ceci's contract situation, and Klefbom Melnyk friendly contract.

As for Davidson he is a very good defenceman who can take a shift in the top 4, much better than any option we currently have. Either way Dorion said he was targeting a bottom pairing defenceman.

Excellent trade. I think Brandon Davidson is the underrated piece in this trade. Him and Wideman is better than some teams' second pairings.
