This would be a good trade if you were sending a second the other way

More like the other way Domi+2nd round pick for Jonas Brodin the pick is on the wrong side. Domi isn't worth Brodin+2nd round pick.

Nice roster!
I like the idea of pairing Romanov with Weber to help his development!
Depending on what happens to the salary cap, i wouldn't be surprised Hoffman gets closer to 8M/year...
If so, would you still go after him in free agency?

Nah, Domi's youth and RFA status trump the difference between the 2 players. Domi could conceivably be locked up for 8 years, Brodin could conceivably be gone in a year. Potential of 8 years vs 1 year is why the pick goes from Minny to Montreal. Perhaps though one could make the picks conditional on who signs where and for how long though. Both players are good, but both have their flaws so no sense exaggerating what both can bring to their respective new teams.

Well one would assume that Jonas Brodin would come with an extension or Montreal doesn't do Domi for Brodin. I mean Domi for Brodin does make some sense it helps both teams out.

Brodin with extension and it starts to make more sense.

8 million value is to much is able to show good stats on a yearly bases but does not bring the sens of leadership that you expect of a player at that pricing level.

You're exactly right, Domi's RFA status make him the more valuable piece therefore the 2nd round pick going to the Habs.

Unless the poster puts in the explanation or additional details that a player is coming with an extension or will sign with the team they're traded to it can't be assumed that they'll automatically sign which lessens their value, seriously other then at the TDL UFA's don't have much value, few on CapFriendly seem to get that though.
