PLEASE don't hate me for saying this. I am not advocating for it either way, but it looks like a switch. The Habs need scoring, and they get it with Nylander. The Leafs need a right shot, minute munching defenseman, and they get that in Shea Weber. He's not going to win the Norris, but he'll probably be in the top 8-10 in voting. Right off the bat both teams are instantly improved. Weber might even push the Leafs over the edge. Caufield is a super young sniper that has huge upside, and Sandin is a super young left-handed defenseman with huge upside. Mete is a very young but already experienced bottom 4 left shot dman and Kerfoot is a solid 3rd liner. I do not have a horse in the race, but I actually don't think it's that bad.

Now, I am not sure the Canadiens (or anyone) gets Georgiev, as it at least appears the Rangers will keep him. But what do I know?! smile

And Weber has a contract for the next 7 years and is 34. And Nylander is 23 with an amazing contract.
Leafs litterley have a laugh party cause this post is hilarious for the leafs

Montreal says no. Don't think they should trade Weber and don't need the space. If he gets hurt he goes on LTIR and if he retires early Nashville takes the hit, I believe. They are quietly rebuilding quicker than expected and this wouldn't necessarily help.
They can keep Weber and sign a good winger with the $6.5m you're spending on Barrie.

I'm not quite so sure. Like....do you really want your team to win a Cup, or are you just happy with 4 star forwards, Reilly, Sandin and NOBODY else on D and a prospect cupboard that includes Nate Robertson and a few AHL caliber forwards? OR you can get Weber - who granted is 34, but still a first pairing defenseman who eats minutes and is a right shot. You basically tell the East that you are contender NOW. Not a hopeful, but an actual contender. Because there is no way they make it past the Lightning, and the Bruins, AND the Capitals/Penguins/Flyers, AND whoever makes it out of the west with THAT defense. And...let's call this a spade, but they couldn't really score on a 40 year old Zamboni driver, so I am not sure how dynamic they truly are.

I am not going to tell you who my team is, but I would give ANYTHING to have them win just 1 Cup, even if that means suffering on one "bad" contract for 2 or 3 years (Though if Weber retires the cap hit actually goes to the Predators, not the team that has him. so there is that). But hey, being the 4th best team in the East isn't a bad thing! I mean, they haven't really been better than that since 1967..............
