Ducks save $2M on Bernier so his cap hit is higher, but actual cash is lower so they hopefully will be ok with getting that close to the ceiling.

Main question would be if Ritchie can produce on the first line or if JVR moves up.

If Despres can stay healthy, that is a very solid defense.

Jvr is the best player in this trade. Leafs would need the pot to be a little sweeter then Fowler and stoner and a 3rd. Throw ANH 1st pick in the deal and the teams can start talking. JVR for nick ritchie would be a better starting place.

Although I like the looks of the New Look Leafs, JVR is the actually the only proven goal scoring winger on the team. Matthews/Nylander and some others will need his help up front. Then there is the point of the expansion draft. Leafs protect Rielly, Gardiner and I think Carrick and Fowler would be the fourth Dmen (proposed traded). No, JVR is too valuable to the Leafs....Try TDL in February 2018, then he'll be traded.
