over 5M for Bratt? almost 5M for Blackwood? Those both seem really high to me.

Blackwood and Bratt isn't high. Bratt is a young forward who could crack 25 goals and Blackwood is getting around what Merzlikins is getting. Merlikins got 4mil on a bridge deal. I think Blackwood would get 5mil on a 3 year deal
Clifford for 1.8 is high

Why would Dadanov play for NJ? I see him being kept by Florida while Hoffman is let go.

whats a comparable for Bratt to make 5M+? I think he would be closer to 3-3.5 on a 2-3 year deal. SImilar to Fiala (3M x 2), Burakovsky (3M x 2), Buchnevich (3.25M x 2). I dont see any comparables for him around 5M.

For Blackwood I see something like 3.5-4M AAV for 2-3 years. The Merzlikins was overpaid at 4M AAV anyway so I wouldnt use that as a direct comparable. based on Blackwoods sample size and performace I think this is fair considering Binnington got 4.4 x 2 after putting up better numbers and winning a cup. I would use Vasilevskiy (3.5M x 3) as the comparable with Murray (3.75M x 3), Binnington (4.4M x 2), and Merzlikins (4M x 2) as upper limits for Blackwoods deal since they all had better stats at the time of signing and all had limited sample sizes in the NHL.

You know the taxes are different in Tampa right? So obviously Vas is gonna be cheap. Murray's deal was a while ago. Binnington and Merzlikins got 2 year deals. This is a three year deal. Maybe Blackwood should get like 4.5mil on a 3 year deal. Main point is he is still young and its not that of

This guy gave Bratt a 4 year deal. He is only 21 and he is on pace for 20+ goals. The market has changed.
I would give Bratt 2x3mil 3x 3.75mil and 4x4.5 and 5x5
btw burakovsky got a 1 year deal
again deals that were signed 2 years ago are a bit different then today

I’m very much a fan of trading down with the VAN pick if we decide to keep all three 1sts. Would depend on who’s there but in almost every case I’ve gone through I’d be willing to trade back into the late first to grab a 2nd rounder

I think its pretty far off. Blackwood is good but shouldnt make more than cup winning goalies like Binnington and Murray right off of his ELC. Its hard to find comparables for young goalies especially with small sample sizes like Blackwood has. He had worse stats than Merzlikins, Binnington, and Murray at the time they signed their contracts and shoudnt be making as much.

I dont think Bratt should be getting a 4 year deal in the first place. Most (if not all) comparables for him are 1, 2, and maybe 3 year deals around 3M AAV. I dont think it makes sense to just scale the AAV up like that and give him more term for no reason. The burakovsky and fiala comparables I gave before were within 1 year of Bratt's age at the time of signing and had very similar point production at that point in their careers. For the burakovsky comparable I was referring to his 2 year deal not his current contract btw. Just because a deal was signed 2 years ago doesnt mean it shouldnt be used for comparison... Its hard enough to find contract comparables as is, its completely unreasonable to expect to find comparables from only the previous season onward.

I could be a top 4 D on the Devils lol. just wanted to bring in anyone who is somewhat capable defensively, if not him could be any other bottom pair defensive D on the market

the way Blackwod finished the season I see his agent requesting a fairly high dollar value, finished the year with similar stats to Carter Hart playing behind an atrocious D core. His numbers in February were unbelievable. Could be lower than what I've put here but I think between 4 and 5 million is fair for him. As for Bratt, he was easily the Devils best forward the back half of the season, I would be very surprised if he's not a 60-70 point player next year. This is coming from a guy whose watched probably 90% of both of these kids NHL careers and this is what I think they're worth, or close to it. You can disagree if you want

I always figure NJ has to overpay for FA's considering their current state

why does any free agent play anywhere? maybe NJ is offering more $$ and he wants to go somewhere other than Florida, or maybe he's interested in playing with countryman Gusev. I just think he'd a good fit in their top 6.
