Kap is a top 9 forward. He’s good, but let’s pump the breaks on him. He can’t carry a line. This year it’s a very deep draft and teams are likely to find prospects with higher upside than Kap in the late first round. Leafs will probably move him for a 2nd+ or package him for a D

A top 9 forward? How many times do I have to repeat the same statement. Just read my list up above.
Kapanen would put up 50 point seasons if there wasn't so many forwards in front of him
He can't carry his line because his minutes are limited
And lets completely ignore the fact that Kapanen has 44 points in his second season.
And that he destroyed the ahl.
And everything else above

or.... Kapanen would be a 30 point player if he didnt get frequent minutes with matthews/tavares. personally, I would love Kap on Pittsburgh because he could feed off Crosby. But, if Kap is traded to another team next offseason and doesn't get favourable line mates, he'll score between 30-40 points.

please do research. He barley plays with any of our big 4
He plays with Kerfoot and then someone like engvall, Spezza….
Last season Kapanen didn't even play with any of our big 4 and he got 44 points and 20 goals so all your statements are wrong
since your massively underrating Kapanen il say it again
If you want utility he plays on the pp and pk
if you want speed he is one of the fastest
If you want second line points he can do it. On the leaf he can't because we have so many good ones
if you grit he has got some
if you want a good contract he has got it
if you want someone who is young he is 23
By next year Kapanen will be a second liner

kap played with matthews last season during the Nylander sitout where he collected most of his points and then cooled down when Nylander came back and was sent to third line. hes a top 9 forward. you massively overrate Kapanen. hes a guy who I liked until leafs fans overrate him. hes a speedy winger with little finish. hes good for 30-40 points in a third line role and 40-50 points in an elevated role. his contract is "fair" but leafs need to shed cap so dont expect much of a return on him, Johnsson, or kerfoot.

Just because you overrate a player who would be on the second line on a good team doesn't mean he isn't worth a first
Ok he did play a bit with Matthews last season but Matthews was injured too. Especially the time Kaps was playing their
Tell me how Kase (technically) got a first but Kapanen can't.
You are massively undervaluing Kapanen.
The only return I accept for Johnsson or Kerfoot is a 3rd

hes on a cheaper contract and ducks took back Backes which was huge. maybe in a vacuum Kap is worth a first, but leafs are right against the cap, and teams will take advantage of that. Its gonna be a buyers market due to the flat cap

The price of taking Backes was Axel Anderson. Kase contract is cheap but Kapanen's is like 500k more. Also an extra year. Kase just gets injured and that's affects his trade value. He can't stay healthy. Kapanen is younger and can stay healthy
Lol take advantage? Leafs wouldn't mind trading Kerfoot or Johnsson for a 5th.
I like how you talk as if Kapanen is the one player that the leafs need to move. Also there are lots of teams interested in Kapanen (every thread I see is just teams giving 5ths for Kapanen)

kase alone probably isn't worth a first, and Anderson isn't enough to dump backes (ex. Marelau to Carolina trade). thats why the trade was a fair value. When Kase is healthy id take him over Kap tbh, hes excellent even strength, but like you said hes often injured. Leafs will have to trade a combination of Kerfoot, Johnsson, and Kap. They'll need a replacement 3C for kerfoot and they NEED to address their RHD. I think Johnsson, Kerfoot, and Kap are all pretty similar valued (with Kap being the best), and they wont get "fair" value for any of them.

I heard injuries affect trade value. And Kase still got a first. Goodrow got a first. The deadline was crazy
Leafs could trade Kerfoot for a guy like Wallmark or Faksa.
Like I said I am willing to trade Johnsson for a 4th or even 5th
we have cap space for our right side. We can get a guy like Gudas or Mayfield who can be Rielly's d partner

Goodrow getting a first was one of the worst deadline trades in recent memory. Tampa overpaid to get a guy that plays 3C and is physical. Both faska and Walmark will come in on an extension either just short or similar to Kerfoot's contract so they'll need to shed cap another way. Johnsson will be moved due to the depth on their left side. they'll get a 2nd or 3rd for him. Mayfield would need a trade and gudas would be between 3-4 million

My opinion to Kap: he’s not fetching a first. Like you said, leafs would probably be better off to keep him since you won’t get a return you’ll want
