Jets need a homerun if they even think about trading laine, not a safe ground rule double. Some safe additions that you know what your going to get out of them, but jets need a difference maker, change a game back.

Brett Pesce instantly becomes their best RHD, and locked up for a while at a good price. Along with this, they are getting a very good 3c in Trocheck and a solid middle six winger. While Laine still probably hasnt hit his potential yet, you dont have to worry about any potential cap issues once he re-signs in 2 years, and thats only if he gets back to being a 40 goal scorer. If he doesnt, its an automatic win anyway. Poolman and Lowry dont really move the needle too much

Ya correct on poolman and Lowry, what I’m saying jets need a 40 goal laine over depth from outside the organization, cap hits are respectable but the trade doesn’t beat the st.louis, Colorado, and Dallas of the central. Trade probably ensures playoffs, but i don’t see a over the top run in it and it’s gm job to worry about future contracts. Team all ready Uber soft from where it’s been.

Yeah thats fair, I guess it depends on if they have any future moves in mind to get another forward back. Definitely didnt think about it as a big picture central division move.

I got a little bias on jets holding onto connor, laine, and ehlers to the bitter end, and or change out coach and gm and bring on the rebuild. Obviously other pieces too, but jets drafted kids are vital for any future success. Three guys coming back do fill the holes well, but nothing to truly get excited about. I’m hoping Gustafsson, samberg and heinola come in next year and force themselves into big roles and force some changes. If jets miss after all this, I’m going from past experience of there past lottery first rounders, there’s a hole filler in 6 months to 18 months. Hopefully rhd or 2c hole filled there.

oh for sure Laine definitely fits 5 years into the future better than Pesce, and you have 3 solid D pieces in Morrissey, Heinola, and Samburg, hopefully pionk continues to play good too, especially for a franchise that hasnt won its about building a winner, not just a contender
