Don't know why that matters, as it's not like they don't predict/now the strength of the class a couple years prior give or take. But to answer your question, 5 were traded near the deadline and a sixth was traded in the Hall deal mid season. So at least 66% of the firsts that were dealt were around February. And around 33% of the teams have moved their first. I'm just saying, the "no one is trading the 2020 firsts" is a myth

True 2/9 first were Tampa Bay. Another 1stbwas the Van 1st that Tampa had. Then Toronto traded a first Carolina traders. It’s really like 4 first round picks that jut jumps to a few different teams unless I’m wrong

Van 1st traded 2x
Toronto 1st traded 2x
Sharks 1st was conditional from last year.

Thats 5 of the 1st round picks traded correct or am I wrong?

Yeah it is all hypothetical, but if I'm Buffalo I just traded a first and its best D prospect for Montour 14 months ago. He's an RFA, so if all they can get is a first 2 years after the one they traded, and a worse prospect, they would be better off keeping him at what will end up being around 4-5M. So if that's the best they can get, I'm keeping him.

Ott has 3 first rounders
NJ has 3
Minn has 2
NYR has 2
Ana has 2

My count has 7 extra, so just two have been moved twice ( Tor/car)(van/tb) like you said

Fair enough. Montour value was much higher 14 months ago. He’s played pretty bad. That would be the same at me hoping to get a 2nd and a prospect for Jensen. Sometimes you overpay and it’s best to recoup something than nothing. Also the Buffalo prospect doesn’t seem to be good enough to crack the NHL. He just got leaped frogged by Djoo.

I’m still amazed at how terrible Tampa did at the deadline. What a waste of picks and assets.

Idk. He hasn't been nearly as bad to the eyeball test as his analytics. Sometimes it is better to hold off on selling as well. That's what I would do for now. Assets are constantly changing value, and I still see him as a top 4 RHD long term. Just needs to be a little better, as the team gets better I think this happens

Can’t argue with that.
